Pictures from our House
Our House
Our house could easily be called unique. I'm sure some people would call it odd. We have no carpet at all, we used to have some upstairs but with all the animals it's almost impossible to keep clean.

Stairs
Instead of putting floor down after we took the carpet out we painted it. It's a bit bold, in my opinion but it's O.K. Straight plywood doesn't sweep very well, but with paint down it's almost as good as floor. These are the stairs to the upper level. |
The Top Of The Stairs
When we go up and down stairs we tend to put our hands on the walls, so Mom decided we should put handprints in paint on the wall. She has wanted to do this for a long time but we only got around to it recently. It looks pretty good. |

Cavy Corner
This is one side of Rodent Alley, the Cavy Corner. I wanted to use some of the extra green paint from the floor to paint grass on the wall. We used to have the pigs in cages on the floor, but that was when we only had three cages. When you have six, you have to come up with other arrangements. I like the shelves because it keeps everything neat and tidy around my pigs. |
Mudroom
We just repainted the mudroom on the March break. It is the colours of Heather. Soon we are going to paint Heather and Chandra on the wall. I'll have a picture of how it looks now soon. When we get the dogs painted I'll put that picture on too.

Bird Corner
All the birds live in one corner of the living room. They have a construction paper palm tree taped to the wall behind them. If we repaint the living room we'll paint the tree on the wall. |
My Floor
My floor isn't painted yet and I'm still not sure what I'm going to put on it. I think I'm going to paint a life size cow in the middle of the floor and have it's markings just like my best 4-H Calf (Leeds County Reserve Champion!). She was my 2nd 4-H Calf, my 2003 project. Her name was Ashley. She sould have went to the Metcalfe fair for the regional show, but got ringworm the day before. I wasn't to happy about that! I got to go this year with my 2004 calf. Her name was Alex. She did terribly at the County Show, but not to many kids were going to the regionals so I got to go. She did alright there.
The boys haven't got a clue what they are doing with their floor. They have been thinking about painting farmland in scale with their little tractors. Matthew wants to make a racetrack for mini cars but Peter (the ever perfect) thinks that will mar the landscape. He's all for the track though, as long as Matthew paints it under his own bed so he doesn't have to look at it. (How he is going to play on it is beyond me!)

My Personal Corner in The Basement
I have to admit it, I am very disorganized. This is my 'personal corner' in the basement. It houses, my barn clothes, boots, halters, calf stuff, all the horse stuff that's supposed to be in the shed but migrated home in my back pockets, and all our riding and bike helmets. |
